Bhubaneswar, May 27 (IANS) The Orissa police Tuesday raided a special jail here and recovered half a dozen cell phones and many other items which prisoners are not allowed to keep with themselves under the law(thanks to Leslie Tripathy's complaint to the police against criminals having access to cell phones inside jail.her bravery led to to some extent to expose the corrupt state of affairs in society where criminals are calling shots from inside the bars). Over 100 policemen searched the Jharpada jail for over two hours and recovered at least six mobile phones, a number of mobile chargers, VCD/CD players and a large number of VCDs and CDs, a police official told IANS.
The police conducted the raid after Oriya film star Leslie Tripathy alleged that she got messages and phone calls from Raja Acharya, the accused in the murder of Biranchi Das, who has been lodged in the Jharpada jail.

An Oriya actress has alleged that a gangster has been threatening to kill her and members of her family if she doesn't marry him, police said Thursday.Leslie Tripathy, 16 years old,who has acted in a few Oriya films and starred in some music videos, has claimed that Sandip Acharya alias Raja has been calling her and sending her threatening smses for the past few years, a police official said.'I visited a jail where Acharya was lodged in 2005 as part of a jail reform programme. Although I don't know him he has been threatening to kill me and members of my family if I don't marry him,' said Tripathy.There are several cases of extortion, murder and kidnapping against Acharya, a police official said.Police arrested him Wednesday and released him after he furnished a bail of Rs.50,000, the official added.
